The department is administering two Transportation Enhancement Grants for separate streetscape projects. The first project will enhance a portion of East Main Street by moving overhead utilities underground and providing new sidewalks, street lights, benches, and landscaping. Construction will begin in early 2009. A similar streetscape project will be undertaken on West Main Street. The department is currently seeking the necessary administrative approvals so the project can be bid in late 2009.
